In the midst of all the class, work, stress and other stuff, I’ve hardly had the time to sit and think about things I should be appreciating. Over the last couple of months, a few different people have approached me in passing and asked me to write something for them. My response is always “Yeah, sure. Sounds cool. When do you want it?” then I get to work, do it, turn it in, and it’s done.
But when I really sit and think about it, I realize how appreciative I should be. These people are seeking ME out and asking ME to write something. I brush off compliments and quickly forget them because using humor and self deprecation is so much easier than convincing someone you are flattered and humble. I guess I keep forgetting that some people do notice my hard work, and I really am thankful for it. I love feedback, criticism, suggestions and the like because it makes me a better writer. When I receive compliments, I usually just put them on the back shelf because I think they don’t help me right away, and I don’t like all the attention or whatever.
Anyway, I guess I’m just saying that even though I feel down and overworked a lot of the time, it really means something special that people notice what I do and maybe like it a little bit. So to anyone who has ever read something I wrote and enjoyed it, I say thank you. A million times. It means a lot.
